Let’s face it. You have a message to share with the world. The desire is burning deep inside of you. Speaking and transforming lives are your calling.
Friends and co-workers always tell you it’s time to start sharing your wisdom with the world.
Sometimes you feel like you are working hard in a thankless job. You are hoping one day you can tell your boss to kiss your rear end and walk away.
You want your life to matter. You want to make a difference with your gifts and talents. You want to obey God and start reaching out.
But, somehow, you feel trapped. You feel like the caterpillar that’s stuck inside the pouch. You’re struggling to burst out of the cocoon and fly.
But, you keep pushing and struggling to break that silky pouch without success. Somehow, you feel like you are running out of time. Am I right?
What’s the problem? Why can’t you just push through and start living your dream? What’s stopping you? The answer is…
Overwhelm. Fear. Uncertainty.
Fear and confusion have their grip on you. As a result, you don’t know what’s the first thing to do to start. You have way too many options.
God is calling you to make a contribution to humanity. On one hand, you want to obey the call. On the other, you are afraid and somewhat confused.
Perhaps you are like Moses. He kept saying he stutters and lacks the skill to lead the people out of Egypt.
You are building a case to prove God that you are not good enough. My friend, you already have the staff in your hand. Some of you know what I mean.
Can I tell you something? Your reluctance to proceed is all because of your fear.
Here’s the first thing I want you to understand:
Stop Worshiping Your Fear!
As you already know, you cannot serve two masters at the same time. It’s either you trust God or your fear.
Don’t let your thoughts hold you captive in a prison of your making. The key is to start. The actions you take are the cure for your discouragement. Read that again.
I know many of you are my coaching clients. You are already out there speaking. But most of you have yet to start.
What you are about to learn here will give you clear directions on how to get going. But it’s not just for beginners.
If you are a pro on the speaking circuit, this will be golden to you as well. It’s the kind of information I wish someone would share with me early my speaking career.
The thing is, seventeen years ago when I started speaking, you would do just fine without the formula you are about to learn. But things have changed dramatically.
Are you ready to dive in? Great!
1- Choose A Topic That Solves A Specific Problem
It’s not enough to get on stage and share stories, and feel-good words.
Whether you are speaking at a corporation, a non-profit, or school, you HAVE to solve a problem.
That’s why you must set a certain expectation the moment you get on stage. Make sure they understand your topic is the solution to a particular challenge.
It may be poor customer service, low morale, low productivity, or change resistance.
A non-profit might need ideas to raise money, recruit more motivated volunteers, etc.
A school might need help with bullying, peer pressure, career orientation, college preparation, etc.
For example:
I go through my attention-grabbing opening to make sure they are present in the room. Then I mention the title of my presentation…
No condition is permanent! Then I would say…
“How many of you agree with me we are living in some stressful and overwhelming times? Would also agree that rapid and disruptive changes make it harder to have a joyful day in the workplace?”
Then, I would let them know what to expect in the next 45 minutes.
Alright, this is not about how to deliver a spellbinding and mesmerizing presentation. In a moment, I’m going to share with you why knowing the problem is important. I will also share how to use it to get speaking engagements.
For now, ask yourself, “What problem my topic or message solves?”
Keep in mind people are willing to pay to get rid of problems. Of course, they want to feel good as well. But, they are more interested in improving their condition.
The school that is about to lose funding needs someone to help them improve behavior and grades.
The solution can be as simple as inspiring the students to focus and set goals.
By the way, lack of focus is a huge problem for high school and college students. Heck, it’s an issue for all of us.
2- Come Up With A Solution Framework
After you choose your topic, you need to create a structure. That’s how you position yourself as the thought leader and authority. That’s how to command respect and significant fees.
A framework is a blueprint. It’s how you offer a step-by-step formula to achieve a particular result or solution.
Come up with 3 to 7 steps for the blueprint. A good example is Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
- Habit 1: Be Proactive
- Habit 2: Begin With The End In Mind
- Habit 3: Put First Things First
- Habit 4: Think Win-Win
- Habit 5: Seek First to Understand Then to be Understood
- Habit 6: Synergize
- Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw
Do you see how simple the framework is? Companies all over the world are using it to train and develop their teams.
Yours doesn’t have to be seven. It can be three or five. It’s up to you.
Your framework can serve as the basis for a good outline for your book and products as well.
Each step or module is like an onion. Keep peeling the onion to uncover the sub-topics or sub-chapters.
3- Choose An Audience
Okay, you chose your topic or message. Now you need to choose a target market or an audience with the problem.
Above all, make sure the market has money to pay you. After all, you provide a transformation or solution to a pressing problem. You deserve adequate compensation.
Besides, it’s hard to make a significant impact without money. The more money you make, the more you can afford to reach more people.
If your market doesn’t have money, go with the sponsorship model. Look for companies that want to reach your market. And let your solution be the bridge that connects them.
Maybe you have a solution to help high school seniors thrive in college. Your target market would be high school seniors.
Maybe your framework can help boost morale or reduce stress for insurance agents. Maybe you are targeting call center employees.
For me, the insurance industry is my primary market.
Aflac is a big client. I have spoken in 38 states for them. Well, I should say territories instead of states. They tend to split the big states into separate regions and areas.
The reality is, everyone needs motivation. Everyone has problems. But, if you want to speed up the process and start landing speaking engagements fast, you gotta define your target market.
That doesn’t mean you will turn down requests from any group. No. Sometimes I speak for the real estate industry and many associations’ annual conferences.
But, you will get more gigs more often when you choose a primary target.
That way your marketing materials will be more magnetic. You will stand out more. You will command attention faster in a crowded marketplace with a gazillion motivational speakers.
Does that make sense to you?
You can have a secondary market as well. But, keep it simple. Go after one primary market. I don’t want to you complicate this process.
4- Create A Marketing And Positioning Tool
Earlier, I mentioned the need to solve a problem. I also promised to share with you why and how to use it to promote yourself.
At this point, you want to create a piece of content that offers a sample of your solution or transformation. You are now ready to create a compelling and powerful marketing tool.
Make a list of 3 to 5 ways to solve a particular problem. Insert the target market in the title. Example:
5 Ways Insurance Agents Can Reduce Stress.
5 Ways School Principals Can Get Rid Of Bullying.
Create a special report, CD, or DVD with the list. You want to create all three of them. Don’t worry. It’ s a lot easier than you might think. Here’s how to create all three at once.
- Create the video for your DVD
- Extract the audio from the video for the CD
- Have someone transcribe the audio for the special report
Now, if you love writing, you might want to reverse the process. Write the special report first. Then copy and paste it in this Online Teleprompter on your computer. Read it while standing in front of your video camera. Next, extract the audio from the video.
5 – It’s Time To Launch Your Campaign
Once you have your physical things, you are ready to market. That one piece of content is your marketing weapon to secure speaking engagements.
You want to go after free speaking engagements so you can get some platform experience or hours. Okay, let me clarify something here.
There’s no such thing as free speeches. You are marketing on stage. You are there to promote yourself for paid opportunities.
In fact, you should start marketing to the Civic Clubs (Optimist, Kiwanis, Rotary, etc.) and companies at the same time. Go here to find a list of Civic Clubs.
Next, make a list of 50 companies you want to speak for in your city. That’s what I call “your target 50” Yes, start in your local area first.
Send your DVD, CD, and Special Report to some key people within the organization. Make sure you also include a cover letter and a one-pager.
Notice I didn’t say 500 companies. Why?
Okay, there are two reasons for that. The first reason is to save you money. It’s more inexpensive to mail to 50 people. Do you agree?
The other reason is that I want you to go for many touch points. You will get better results mailing to 50 people ten times than mailing to 500 people once.
It’s not enough to reach out one time. You will need at least seven or more exposures.
Send the special report, CD, and DVD via the post office one week apart. You also want to send a few emails each time you mail to follow up and make sure they receive your package.
Once they consume your content, you’ll be ready to get on the phone to close some deals.
Often, if you do a good job defining the problem, they will book you without a phone call. Provide you give them a taste of the solution.
Oh, I forgot to mention that the purpose the report, CD, and DVD is to sell yourself. So, you must make you there’s a call to action. Mention you are ready to join forces with them to help solve the problem.
At this point, you may be thinking, “why not put the video, audio, and report on my site?” Great question!
By all means, put them on your site. Do so for the people on social media and search engines. But, let me share this with you…
Your prospect arrives at work. There’s a hand addressed package waiting for him or her with a CD or DVD or a report.
In the meantime, there’s an email waiting for him or her among one hundred others with a link to watch a video.
Which one will get top priority?
That’s my point!
Your package is NOT competing with any other packages. Especially if you write the address on the package with a blue pen.
The best part is, your face or name will stay in front of them for a long time. Why?
People do not throw away CDs or DVDs that promise them to solve a problem.
That said, you still need to send the electronic (email) version in the mix.
I’m hoping, you get the main idea. It’s a simple process. I challenge you not to complicate it.
I’m not sure if you really get the steps I shared with you. Let me know if you have any questions.
by Rene Godefroy | May 2, 2016 | How To Become A Motivational Speaker, Make Money Speaking, Public Speaking
Two days ago, I delivered a keynote presentation for a group of women entrepreneurs. Standing ovation! I left them ecstatic and fired up to dash to the summit of success in their respective business!
Later, I was in my room reflecting on my speaking journey. I was wondering about the magic bullet that catapulted me to the top as a motivational speaker.
I got an instant revelation! I got so excited; I wanted to crack open the champagne. I’m sure you know the feeling when you suddenly experience a flash of brilliant insight. Right?
So kick back and chill out. I want to share my big reveal with you so you, too, can shift gear and get on the fast-track in your speaking career.
Here it is:
You probably are thinking to get paid as a motivational speaker. You need knowledge, skills, experience, this that or the other. Or you need a degree or be a top-notch speaker.
WRONG!
I want to debunk that myth for you.
Yes. You do need to be a good speaker. That’s a given. But that doesn’t take much. That comes with platform hours. No biggie.
Here’s what I mean…
When I first launched my speaking biz, my fee was $500 for a speech. (I didn’t know better.) That was a DUMB mistake.
Today, my check for a one-hour keynote is $10,000 plus all expenses.
The Ugly Truth About This
I’m still giving the same speech. And I’m still sharing the same stories and points.
Simply put, I went from $500 to $10,000 without any significant shift in content and delivery.
Well, okay. I do have more experience now. But I paid some gurus a hefty price for it – money I didn’t have. Hint: Plastic cards.
That means you can buy all the experience you want. You can slash your learning curve by leaps and bounds.
However, I told you it was not about that. Starting out, I had none.
When I hung my shingle and proclaimed I was a motivational speaker; I was making $4.25 an hour and some tips. I was still learning English.
Audacity? …Hell yeah!
The thing is, nobody knew about me. I didn’t have any testimonials or references.
I was an unknown and obscure Haitian immigrant carrying bags at a hotel – in debt and hanging by a thread.
My English was rough. I cringe when I listen to my first recording from years ago.
Some words I can’t even understand myself. I wonder how the audience managed to get my points.
Now, do you want to know how come I command that much money for the same speech today?
Cool! Make sure you write it down.
It’s Not About The WHAT. It’s About The WHO.
The higher your fee is, the more they pay you for WHO YOU ARE instead of WHAT you are.
Look at it this way.
You may be a motivational speaker or a lawyer, or an account. That’s what you are. We all know there’s a price expectation for what you are.
For example, if you are a writer, the national association of writers might publish a suggested price guide.
They might recommend you charge from $20 to $100 depending whether you are a beginner or and advanced level writer. That’s just to illustrate. I don’t know for sure.
But…
The WHO has no ceiling. There are so many polished speakers with deeper knowledge who are struggling to get paid 2k while I get 10K.
Think of Oprah Winfrey. She makes a boatload of money. She is the richest black woman in the world.
Does that mean she is more talented, gifted, and experienced than the other people who are on TV?
No!
So, what does it takes? Answer:
Be A Fascinating Person Who ATTRACTS And Arrests Attention!
Radiate the following: Mystery. Influence. Intrigue. Charm. Charisma. Celebrity.
The good news is, you are not born with any of those. But, you can engineer them.
How?
Well, here are a few things among many you can work on:
- Get brilliant on STORIES… that’s where you can make the most impact and money
- Create videos for YouTube – Be a talk show host there
- Have your O type magazine
- Write articles or special reports
- Have a person with the presence of a news anchor to interview you
- Share your opinions about things or philosophies
- Write a book, etc.
Perception IS reality!
Every single thing I just mentioned is EASY TO DO. Do not over complicate it. Most people get stuck because of complexity.
Look, if a little guy from poverty and diseases from tiny village in Haiti can do it, you can too!
Make sure you target one particular problem that bug millions of people. Something like time management, self-esteem, bullying, etc.
Of course, those people need to have money; or make sure companies are willing to sponsor you to reach them.
As a result, you will now be busy enough to activate the law of scarcity. And bam! You are ready to fly high!
That’s what happened to me.
Today, it’s not easy to get access to me. That was never my intention. But, it is what it is.
Lots of people email and write to ask me questions. Others want me to mentor them.
Unfortunately, I cannot spend time one-on-one to coach, mentor, and answer questions for free.
I can only take the time to answer general questions here on this blog when I can rearrange my schedule to do so.
The reality is, if I were devoting my time to dispense free advice, I would have to work 365 days, full time. There are way too many requests. That means I would never be able to eat and pay my rent.
I’m not complaining. That’s a nice problem to have. You’ll have the same problem soon if you stay with it and do the things I suggest to you.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m a giver. I love giving! I give my time and money to the needy children in Haiti. I also mentor a few selected people.
Okay, Here’s The Big Takeaway:
I just peeled back the curtain and revealed the magic formula to you.
Work on the WHO. Become a fascination person who commands and arrests attention.
That strategy works anywhere on the planet – regardless of your current status. How you go about it may be different. But the process is the same.
By the way, when you become that kind of person, your future fans will hang on to your words. Regardless if they heard them before. They will feel more compelled to take action.
Before I hit the publish button, let me ask you…
What are you struggling with now? What’s your frustration? What’s stopping you? Type it in the comment box below.
by Rene Godefroy | Mar 23, 2012 | How To Become A Motivational Speaker
For a long time I tried not to engage in any negative exchange on my sites. I’m really not very confrontational at all. But I think this time I need to speak my mind.
A woman contacted me a few weeks ago. She wanted some information on my coaching program. Someone from my office spoke to her and gave the info she needed. In fact, I also spoke to her on the phone as well.
A few weeks later, she called again. This time she wanted to know about my credentials. She wanted to know what coaching school I attended. She also wanted to know what kind of certification I offer after my speaking for a living training.
As soon as she started asking these questions, I decided that I did not want to coach her. First, I don’t really wish to do much in the area of one-on-one coaching. It can be draining. I have too much on my plate. This is why I’m very selective on who I accept in my coaching program.
The reality is, anyone can be a coach. It’s like this: If the race to the top is a thousand miles and you are at the hundredth mile line, you can coach and teach those who are at mile number one. You have earned your qualification.
It’s About Results, Not Certification
People don’t buy certification. They buy results. For example, the lady who makes outgoing calls when an inquiry arrives at my office is a divorced coach (www.divorcewomencan.com). One of her clients was going through a nasty divorce to the point where she was very depressed and wanted to give up on life.
Leisa was able to help her bounce back. Her client is very thankful for it. Things are now going great for her. Not one time during the process did the client ask for proof or certification. As a matter of fact, she gladly signed up for another three months. Why? Because she’s happy with the results.
The teaching point is this: As long as your clients are happy with the results, you are qualified to coach. Let me put it another way…
If you wake up tomorrow with a really bad toothache. You’re going to find the closest dentist in your neighborhood that can take care of that tooth for you.
You will NOT care if there’s a diploma on the wall and what school the doctor attended. All you care about is someone who can take away the pain from you. Right?
Of course, you need to investigate before you invest. But, in my case, you just type my name in Google and you’ll get tons of proof that I’m the guy who’s living the dream you want to live.
She Called Back Again
The same woman called my office back and left a voicemail. She wanted to know how much money speakers make. She wants to know how she is going to be able to recoup the money she is spending. Although, I’m not sure where she’s spending her money.
Basically, she wants me to guarantee her that she will make money. How in the world do I know how much money she can make?
Look, I make no claim of income. It all depends on how much you are willing to put into it. Many talented and brilliant speakers started around the same time I did.
They couldn’t make it work. They went back to work. Yet, many others became wildly successful. The difference is not about talents or skills. It’s about commitment and determination.
Besides, there’s no guarantee in life. Okay, let’s say there’s only one guarantee. You will die one day. Other than that, life is a series of risks. You have to take them. If you are not dancing on the edge and taking some risks, you’ll always remain in the position or situation you are currently in. That means doing nothing is a risk in and of itself.
Service Vs Money
Early on in my speaking career, I made a huge mistake. I became a hustler. My focus was on money and things. After all, I’m living in a society that put a big emphasis on material possessions. It’s easy to become your environment.
The more money I made, the more I wanted. Simply put, it was all about ME. Now, I don’t live an extravagant life. I still live in the same little house I lived for the past twenty years. I drive a BMW for a specific reason. But I won’t get into that now.
By the way, did you know that multi-billionaire Warren Buffet still lives in the same modest house he bought years ago for $30,000? One day, I will write a blog post about this topic. It will be a wake up call for you. But Let’s get back to money.
As you might know, money and things don’t bring happiness. Think of all the rich people in Hollywood. They have lots of money. Yet, almost all of them are not happy. They are miserable! Just so you know, making more money will not make you happy. It’s an illusion.
Service is what triggers happiness. You are happy when you make someone else happy. It’s when you are truly connected with God. Luke 12:31 tells us this: “Seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.” To me, this is the most profound lesson in the Bible.
The word kingdom tells me there’s no lack. You see, when you lose yourself in service, you are seeking the kingdom. Service is not about you and the things you want. It’s about uplifting and edifying God’s people.
What’s remarkable about this is, all the things you want will come to you when you lose yourself in service. Throughout history, people who lose themselves in service never lack anything. Jesus came to serve and offer His life as the ultimate sacrifice. He did not lack anything.
Mother Theresa did not lack anything. By the way, she was not poor. If she wanted to give you one million dollars, she had access to it. The gurus who dedicate their lives to serving others always have plenty to keep serving and helping.
Sorry if I got a bit spiritual on you for a moment. But my point is this: As long as you keep pursuing the so-called success for your own self-interest, your struggles will never end. Even if you do get the money, you will have a miserable life. You will not be happy.
Everyday, you should ask yourself how can you make someone happy? How can you serve someone? What can you say in a video, article, or blog post to inspire someone to keep pressing on in spite of the challenges? How can you help someone make their dream become a reality?
Look, you don’t need a big stage to start doing so. You can start now with your acquaintances, friends, co-workers, and family members. You can serve those who are within your reach right now.
When people get a sense that you are truly out to make them happy and help them get what they want, they will voluntarily throw money at you. It may not happen at the beginning. But, sooner or later, it will happen.
I know I talk about making money in the videos I shared with you. But, that’s just to get your attention. Without getting your attention, I can’t share the essence of my message with you. Just keep that in mind.
Charity Vs Speaking For A Living
Now, I’m not telling you to start a charity. Although it would be a great idea to start one in addition to your business. I’m not telling you not to charge for your products or services. I’m rather telling you to focus on service. Think about how you can serve and help.
For example, I charge a fee to speak at events. But, I’m always challenging myself to serve my audience extremely well. My focus is how to help my audience improve their condition. By the way, that’s a surefire way to wipe out your fear on stage.
If a company calls and tells me they don’t have money, I will not accept the engagement. I need the money. I need it mostly to go and serve poor people in remote villages in my country.
I don’t have any problem with making money. The problem is with selfishness and greed. The problem is when the focus is on money. I want you to make beaucoup money. Make it so you can serve the unfortunate people who are beaten, sick, dejected, and neglected.
There’s something funny about money. The more you pursue it, the more it tends to run away from you. The more you cuddle and hug it, the more it makes you sick mentally or even physically. You see, money is like blood. It must flow or it will create blood clots and make you sick.
What do you think? Am I wrong? Am I over acting?
by Rene Godefroy | Mar 11, 2011 | How To Become A Motivational Speaker
I want to share with you one big secret that is really fundamental to you as a motivational speaker. When I’m privately coaching new or advanced speakers, I make sure they really get it. I call it a secret because far too many speakers miss it.
The one big secret I share with my private coaching clients is exactly what I’m about to share with you right now. You should tattoo it on your brain forever. It’s the secret weapon that all of the highly successful speakers use to get to the top of the speaking field. It’s how you can get paid speaking gigs even if you are just getting started. Are you ready to hear it?
Great! Here it is…
When you’re getting started, speak anywhere, whenever, and anytime for low or no fees. When you are a pro, still continue to use the same strategy whenever your calendar is not busy. Now, let me explain what I mean.
I just booked a gig for $500 for this coming July. That’s about 5% percent of my corporate fee. I bet you’re doing the math in your head, right? Anyway, the speaking engagement is going to be in Atlanta where I live. Let’s see why I accepted it. First, let me walk you through how the conversation went. Don’t worry. I’ll make it short.
I got a call from a woman who is very influential with the department of education here in Georgia. They are having a big conference for about 4,000 people. She is not the one in charge of the conference. However, she’s in charge of a small luncheon for her department (300people). They have not allocated any money for her event.
She told me, “I know you are a big fee speaker. There’s no way I can afford you for what I’m calling you for. I only have $500 and I really want you as the keynote speaker for my luncheon. I’m just taking a chance. Hey, ask and you shall receive.” I said, “What about me that makes you think I’m a five-hundred-dollar speaker?” she said, “Nothing. You have a huge presence and reputation out there. I’m just bold enough to ask you.”
A few years ago, I would tell her I’m not the one and refer her to someone in my database. I have done that many times. I still continue to do it. But now, as long as I have the date available, I will find a way to take it. Of course, it has to be a speech with potential spinoffs.
After I asked her a few strategic questions, I told her to donate the $500 to my non-profit organization. That’s one of many strategies in order to accept a low or no fee engagement. I have many other ways to save face. Now, let me tell why this is not about my fee.
I told the lady I would do it only if the person in charge of the whole event would show up and listen to my presentation during that hour at the conference. I’m sure you know why I said that, right? Yes. Once I deliver an amazing keynote, they will book me at my normal fee to speak at the big event next year. And I know once I am in front of those 4,000 people, I will get even more bookings from it.
Here’s my point: The way to get paid speeches is to go after free ones. There are several advantages to doing low and no fee speeches. I don’t have time to explain them all here. Just keep in mind that strategy should be your number one marketing weapon as a motivational speaker.
Now, I’m not saying every situation is going to be as ideal as this one. When you’re getting started, you have to be willing to speak for 10 or 20 people. You can get those everywhere. Start with the Civic Clubs in your town.
I hope you see the power of this strategy. It doesn’t matter if you’re a pro or you are just getting started. Find opportunities to speak for free. You should never be above free speeches! In fact, I prefer to call it marketing speeches. Got it?
Listen, I know big celebrities in the speaking industry that are still doing free engagements. Most of them are my friends. We are in the big fee leagues. You would be surprised if I start mentioning names.
by Rene Godefroy | Dec 28, 2010 | Become A Speaker, How To Become A Motivational Speaker
This is the big question I always ask the people that call me for advice on how to become a motivational speaker. I want to ask you the same question here as well. What are you waiting for?
If you say you want to become a motivational speaker, I want to know what is stopping you. Is it money, time, or knowledge? Let me tell you this: Nothing is stopping except for your own self.
Now, why am saying this to you? Because you already have everything you need to launch your speaking career. The reality is, you have far more at your disposal to start than I had when I started.
I was a Haitian immigrant learning English while working as a doorman at a hotel in Atlanta. I had zero connection and resources. If I was waiting for a certain situation to be right, I would still be a doorman wishing to be a speaker.
Hear me out. You will never have everything you need to start. But you will always do something to start. You might say, “Rene, you just don’t know my situation!” Of course, I don’t know. And I don’t need to know.
It’s not because I don’t care. It’s because I don’t want to hear your excuses. To become a motivational speaker, you don’t need any money to take the first step. You need to commit to it.
You see, something in me tells me you don’t want it bad enough. When you really want something, you find a way to make it happen. You become a no-matter-what person.
Here’s the big difference between successful people and unsuccessful people. The successful person does what the unsuccessful person is not willing to do. Right now, you’re not willing to do whatever it takes.
[headline_arial_small_left color=”#000000″]Stop Your Excuses![/headline_arial_small_left]
Let me turn on some lights in your head and inspire you to kick your excuses goodbye.
If you say you want to be a motivational speaker, you don’t need a stage to start transforming lives. Have you written at least one article to share your message of hope with the world? Okay, that’s my point!
Do you have a youtube channel with some short videos of you sharing tips and ideas on your topic? That’s my point!
Have you joined Toastmasters International, or do continue to go to practice your materials there? That’s my point!
Do you have a web site? Have you put together your speech yet? Do you at least have an outline on paper? Have you printed a business card? Have you recorded a 30-minute audio yet? That’s my point!
What are you waiting for to take those steps? Money? Well, it doesn’t cost any money to write some articles. You can record your audio with a free software. (Audacity is best one out there.) You can go www.blogger.com and create a free site.
You can have your very own channel on YouTube right for nothing. Zippo. Free. You can pimp your channel and make it look like a million-dollar. In fact, you can start with your channel. Use it as your hub to distribute your knowledge to the world. Yes, you read it right… The world!
Don’t wait until you have money to build your site. Use your youtube channel. Start making friends there to help you spread your message. It’s a social site just like Facebook. Take a look at my channel for some ideas: Rene Godefroy YouTube Channel
Now, I’m not going into too many details in this short blog post. My point is, you can always do something. You mind is probably stuck on what you don’t have instead of what you have. Your limitations are killing your creativity. How many speaker websites have you visited and took some notes?
All right, you get my point. Start now. Every minute you postpone your dream, you are robbing the world from being blessed with your gift of the spoken and written words. Do you follow?
Go make it happen. Do something. Create something.
Press on!
by Rene Godefroy | Jun 30, 2010 | How To Become A Motivational Speaker
If you have a message inside of you, it’s time to start spreading it. If it is important to you, that means it’s important to put it out there. Of course, you are not going to resonate and connect with everyone.
But, imagine the powerful impact you can have on the ones that are ready to hear your message. As a full time motivational speaker, I know how bad people need motivation and inspiration.
There are so many bad things happening these days. People are struggling financially, emotionally and physically. If they can put their hand on your message, they would find a bit of consolation.
You don’t need to be on stage and speaking to thousands of people like I am to spread your message. If there is no stage, create your own stage. Maybe you can have an internet radio show, you can use Youtube, put your stuff on a CD, etc.
Today more than ever, it’s very easy to create a platform or a community of like minded people. As long as you delivering solutions, people with problems will flock unto you.
