Lesson #8: Your Point of View or Philosophies

Your Philosophies Or Point of View

It’s not enough to keep repeating what others have said or quoting dead people. You must have a list of your philosophies or point of view of the world. The audience needs to know what you believe to be true. That’s how you establish authority and credibility.

Thanks Rene for this video on developing a philosophy on each topic. I understand what you mean, i have be reading, watching and listening to different authors and motivational speakers and am developing my way of speaking and finally challenging my audience to do, follow or act according to a particular speech. I will be starting with one book, one Key Note Speech. The book and the Key Note Speech are the same it’s only that how you write is not how you speak, but am aware of the difference. Anyway thanks so much for instilling the principle i did not not know it’s called philosophy. Am so excited that everything seem to be falling into place. Its only that i have to work hard to finish the book. Thanks so much Rene. God bless you. Waiting for the next video.

    All right Rene!

My topic and philosophy should be in my introduction or opening chapter of the “book” I’ve been mulling around and starting to write. So far I’ve disjointed bits of information and points that I wish to share. The stories can be added to flesh out the chapters. The topic statement should be the theme statement to which the rest of the book supports.

I’m playing with the idea of a poster that supports the import points of the book, mainly because the poster points are the outline from which the book will be written.

Thanks again for sharing your insight and hard won lessons in public speaking.

Great ideas Carolyn. The key is to…
1- Create an outline for your 10 chapters
2- Decide what story or stories will go under each chapter
3- Reduce each chapter to one single word in order to stay focused on what the chapter is about
For example, “Who You Are Is Good Enough For The World”. The word may be AUTHENTICITY. Do you see what I mean? That way you don’t keep repeating yourself in different chapters. Focus.

Excellent lead to all the things we should include in our chapters. From Storytelling to the points of purpose and now having my philosophy behind it. I was worried about the 10 pages per chapter, but this is really falling into place nicely. You are truly inspirational and I can see the growth in my confidence, knowledge and writing abilities just by following your guidance closely. Thank you Rene… I’m exploding with excitement!

No problem Petra. When I said 10 pages per chapter, you don’t necessarily have to write exactly 10 pages. Some chapters may be 13 pages and others 7 pages. I meant an average until you can come up with 100 pages for your book. Hope that make sense to you.

    Rene this video was excellent!
So many speakers I know struggle with finding their philosophy but once they do it really makes a difference in their speaking! I agree with what you said, that you MUST remain firm. Who could believe our messages if we didn’t believe them ourselves?!
    ?thankyou Rene, ?thankyou!

    Hi Rene,

I find your topic brilliant, and I am real excited to learn more. However I am having trouble keeping up with the homework! I feel as though I am still way back in video 4 land trying to write the book! I haven't even begun to write my stories yet and you have just said to create your philosophies… I am committed to the max but feel as though i may be too slow to be in the 1000?

      Wayne,

You are not too slow. Stop labeling yourself. You are just fine. If you feel like you need to pick up your pace, just do so without beating yourself up. I just want you to finish the race regardless of your pace. Simply make a list of everything you want to get done for the week. Once you get something done, check it off your list. Cool?

    Hi Dr. Rene

I appreciate your idea to influence people to become a better person ,to enjoy,to be happy,to develop phylosophy about every thing? But how one develop phylosophy without having knowledge, indepth experience anout life, things ?

    Reply
    • Rene Godefroy

      @virendradr Hi Vrendradr,

First, I’m not a doctor. Your question about philosophy is a good one. Basically, everyone has a philosophy about life. What I mean by that is, what you believe about a topic.

For example: If I say money, what do you really believe about money? Do you believe too much money is a sin? Are rich people evil? What do you believe a person needs to do on a consistent basis to attract money? What kind of habits one needs to have in order to acquire money? Or, do you think it’s almost impossible to be rich?

It can be about any topic such as, self-confidence, leadership, self-esteem, customer service, productivity, attitude, persistence, spirituality, etc. If you had one more week to live and you wanted to share your wisdom/philosophy with your nephews and nieces about a certain topic, what would it be? Why do you really think people fail or succeed when it comes to your topic.

Thanks for asking the question. By the way, I just shared my philosophy or point of view with you here. Just mine… The world according to me.

      Rene

@Randall Willis You are welcome Randall. I know for certain you are destined to change lives. The question is, how soon will you reach the top? Don't wait for everything be just fine before you start. Or, if you started already, keep the momentum.

Keep in mind, you have to start lousy and small. You can perfect and scale as you go. By small, I mean you can take a co-worker or family member to lunch and motivate them.

Go to a classroom. Then go to the entire school at an auditorium. Start giving value first. And, it doesn't matter if you are going through your own stuff. When you pick someone up, you pick yourself up as well.

Yes, keep it real. Be authentic. Tell stories as if you were talking to your pals. Okay, I'm about to hit the stage in 45 minutes. Gotta go center myself. Press on!
